How did Anubis exactly become the god of mummification?

The reason Anubis is the god of mummification of all thanks to Seth, the god of evil. Seth got really jealous of Osiris, so he killed him. Well Isis, Osiris's wife, Nemthy's, Seth's wife,(don'tcha feel sorry for her?) And Anubis, Seth and Nemthy's son, went on to find the pieces of Osiris. (Seth cut him up into a lot of pieces) and when they found him they
put him back together and Anubis Embalmed him so he's been called the god of mummification.

The heart ceremony.

The Egyptian heart ceremony was very important. If the heart ceremony was successful the person would be going to the afterlife, if not well, then they would be eaten by a creature sometimes refered to as the devourer, but also called Amut. Amut was part Jaguar, part hippo and part crocodile. Anubis always preformed the heart ceremony, and how this was done was that they had a scale, and put a feather from a god on one side, and the dead persons heart on the other. When they weighed the heart, they would see if it was lighter or heavier than the feather. If it was lighter they got to go to the afterlife, if not, then Amut would eat them and the heart.

What did Anubis do?

Anubis had many roles in Egyptian society. The first of them was that he was the guardian of cemeteries. A second, and probably the most important role he played was embalming Osiris after he was killed by Seth, god of evil, and that's how he became to be the god of mummification. the third and final role that Anubis played was that he protected the mummies in his or her tomb. That is why most Egyptian tombs have a box with Anubis on them in their tomb.

Who are the people in Anubis's family?

Anubis's father and mother are Seth the god of evil, and Nemthys, the goddess of the dead. Osiris was his uncle and Isis was his aunt. Anubis had a cousin named Horus who was the son of Osiris and Isis. Anubis's grandparents would be Geb and Nut. His great grandparents would be Shu and Tefnut. And his Great-great grandpa would be Atum.(Also known as Ra or Re)
